I always feel bad for the boss when a character in a sitcom loses their job. The main character losing their job gets all the sympathy, but the actor that plays them gets to continue being paid. The actor who plays the boss doesn't get any parts because they never come into contact with the main character.
They're basically forced to fire themselves.
